Although much of our work to date has been business-to-business, we are working with organisations to understand the potential of virtual worlds, and Second Life in particular, in the leisure and retail space. The BBC Film Network cinema will explore the possibilities of the three-dimensional internet to provide traditional media in a new, social setting and how that experience can be maximised for the customer.
depo's recent fashion show will provide a starting point for some exciting new ventures into virtual retailing, where we will be testing new virtual commerce techniques and applying our experience of real world retailing in the way we present, merchandise and sell the stock as well as how we create a compelling, immersive environment for the customer. Added to this will be some ideas that would be impossible in real-world stores or on the web. There is a video of the fashion show on YouTube. By working with virtual world brands and designers as well as real-world brands we will be developing the next generation of retail experiences whilst supporting the new businesses developing within virtual worlds. We are still looking for new partners and sponsors in this space. Exciting times! |
